The importance of outdoor learning as part of the way we teach our children has never been so important. Forest and nature schools, like Wild Fauna Nature Play, take outdoor education one step further and offer an opportunity for kids, teens and families to learn more and experience more. Forest and nature schools are not another fancy word for outdoor education. Here is our explanation of forest school vs. outdoor education...
Going to forest and nature school is not a one time adventure. To experience the full benefits it involves regular, structured sessions led by a trained facilitator. Meet our facilitators here.
Forest school takes place IN THE FOREST! We are not talking about in the playground at school we mean in the forest with birds, bugs, dirt and surrounded by mother nature!
The programs are child focused to encourage learning through play and exploration. By focusing on what they are drawn to, we empower them to feel a sense of ownership and control over their lives.
Forest school helps children navigate skills that can build self-esteem, confidence, patience, and focus. Through questions, problem solving, practice and mishaps we can know oneself, our limitations, our interests.
Programs are designed to offer the opportunity for risk (while being supported and supervised by facilitators, of course)
At forest and nature school, we learn so much more than about nature. Nature is our stepping stone to learn about ourselves and how to be part of a community together.
